What we do

A Chaplain is a mature Christian who has under-gone the equipping training course and is first and foremost there to help, support and assist the Community and members and their families in time of need.

Chaplains provide spiritual and emotional support and guidance.

Chaplains also provide ministerial support by bringing a short message and prayer at parades, events, and shift changes. Weddings, funerals, and memorial services as well as hospital visits are a regular part of the Chaplains role.

During times of major structural fires, Chaplains also support the Emergency Services Personnel by providing them with refreshments.

Chaplain also provides support at accident or other traumatic scenes, either by supporting the personnel at the scene or by providing trauma support to the victims. This often includes keeping family and other spectators out of the way and delivering death notifications and trauma support to bereaved family members.

On a typical scene, there are various roleplayers involved. Fire & Rescue is responsible to secure the scene, whilst paramedics look for life, preserve it and safely transport survivors to the medical facilities. Law Enforcement also secures the scene, and investigates the cause.

Chaplains are dispatched to guard over the dignity of all involved. They deal with traumatized people, whether a victim, witness, bystander or even a member of the rescue team.

Chaplains bring immediate hope to hopeless situations. Their presence speaks of life, hope, recovery and a future. On such a scene, people are faced with unspeakable emotions, circumstances and life-changing moments. They feel betrayed, hurt, disappointed and even vulnerable and abandoned. Chaplains always bring hope. They always bring courage, peace and calmness to any situation. They are there to form a pathway towards emotional, spiritual, psychologcal and physical recovery. They are there to link whoever has been traumatized, with the next chain on the road towards healing.

Sometimes Chaplains will deal with a traumatized person on a scene for seconds or minutes, and then hand them over to someone else to take responsibility. Other times Chaplains may journey with this person for days, weeks, months or perhaps years, Whatever the case way be, Chaplains fill the gap and never allow someone to fall through the cracks.

Thus our motto: "We leave No-one behind"
